Olivia

Olivia is a children's program that airs on the Nick Jr. network. Based on the books by Ian Falconer, the animated series is about the daily life of six year old, Olivia. Olivia is a pig who lives with her pig family and goes to school with her pig friends. Though all of the main characters are pigs, they live in houses, drive cars, go grocery shopping at the market and have cats and dogs for pets, just like humans do.

Olivia's family consists of herself, her mother, her father and her two brothers, William and Ian. William is a baby who Olivia refers to as her little brother while Ian, who is four, she refers to instead as her little bother. Olivia's family has two pets, a dog named Perry and a cat named Edwin. Each episode contains a humorous adventure with lessons about family, friendship and a variety of social and developmental skills for young children.

Olivia attends school with her best friends, Julian, Alexandra and Francine. Other recurring classmates include Sam, Daisy, Harold Hockenberri and the twins, Oscar and Otto. They are overseen by their first grade teacher, Mrs. Hoggenmuller. Many episodes of Olivia revolve around the interaction with her classmates during school activities, while others portray Olivia in everyday situations that occur in her family life.

Olivia has an active imagination and often fantasizes about growing up and becoming famous. Each episode finds Olivia dreaming up something extraordinary resulting from an ordinary situation, such as when she imagines she is a professional nature photographer snapping photos of wild animals while simply taking pictures of her cat in her own backyard.

Each episode also contains Olivia's rules of life, such as: When playing a cowbell, never underestimate the importance of enthusiasm.
